This page explains what this website stores on your device, what it records
about your visit, how long any of it is kept, and how to stop it or have it
erased. It describes what is actually built, not what is typical.

1. Nothing is stored until you do something

Opening a page of this website sets no cookie at all. Nothing is written to
your browser and nothing is recorded about you until either you answer the
banner described in section 3, or you use a part of the site that needs to
remember something — adding an item to the basket, for example.

2. What we use, and when

  • Strictly necessary. If you add something to the basket or
sign in to an account, WooCommerce stores a cookie so the basket and the
session survive from one page to the next. These cannot be switched off,
because without them those features do not work. They are set only once you
    use them.
  • Your answer to the banner. One small entry in your
browser’s local storage recording whether you said yes or no to visit
measurement, so you are not asked again. If you said no, that entry is the
only thing stored and nothing is sent to us.
  • Visit measurement. If you agree, one random identifier is
stored in your browser so we can recognise a repeat visit. It is created only
after you agree, and removed if you decline. Section 3 sets out exactly what
    it is used for.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment on a blog post,
WordPress stores your name, email address, website if you give one, your IP
address and your browser identification string, and may set cookies so the
    form remembers you next time.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies, we do not
sell or share what we collect with advertisers or data brokers, and
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are not installed on this
website.

3. Visit measurement, in detail

Nothing in this section happens unless you agree. No
identifier is created, no record is made and nothing is sent to us until you
choose “That is fine” on the banner. If you decline, we store one small note
in your own browser saying so — purely so we do not ask again — and nothing
else. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal,
we treat that as a decline and the banner is never shown.

Where it does not run at all

Visit measurement is switched off completely in the basket, the checkout,
the account area and the wishlist, and it never runs while you are signed in.
Which pages somebody reads is a fair thing for us to know about somebody
reading about our services, and not a fair thing to know about somebody
buying. Those pages are excluded in three independent places, so a change to
one of them cannot quietly switch it back on.

What we record

  • A random identifier for your browser, which is not derived from anything
about you and tells us nothing on its own.
  • The pages you open, their titles, the order you read them in, how long you
spend on each and how far down you scroll.
  • Which page you arrived on, the website or search engine that sent you, and
any campaign tags in the link you followed.
  • Your device type, browser and version, operating system, screen and window
size, browser language and browser time zone.
  • Specific things you do on the page: pressing a highlighted button, starting
an enquiry form, submitting it, or following a link to another website.
  • Your IP address — see “Your IP address” below, which explains how it is
    stored.
  • Your approximate country, worked out from your browser’s own language
setting. This needs no lookup and no third party is told anything about
    you.

What we deliberately do not record

Web addresses often carry things in them that are not safe to copy. A
password-reset link and an order payment link both contain a working key. Our
system removes the value of anything in a web address that looks like a key, a
token, a password, a one-time code or an email address before it is
stored, keeping only the fact that such a parameter was present. It does this
in your browser and then again on our server, because only the second one is
something we can guarantee.

Precise location

We never take your precise location quietly, and no website can: your
browser will not give it without asking you first. We do not trigger that
prompt when a page loads. If a feature offers it and you choose
Allow, we store the coordinates and their accuracy and label
them in our records as something you shared. If you choose
Block, or dismiss the prompt, nothing is recorded and we
continue to use only the approximate country described above — which is always
labelled as approximate. We never present an estimate as though you had shared
your location.

Your IP address

Your IP address is handled in three separate ways, because the three uses
need different amounts of it:

  • The network part only (for example 203.0.113.0) is kept in
readable form. It is enough to tell roughly where a visit came from and not
    enough to identify a person.
  • A one-way fingerprint of the full address lets us
recognise two visits as coming from the same network. It cannot be turned back
    into your address.
  • The full address is stored encrypted. It is not shown on
any ordinary screen. Only named members of staff who have been given that
specific permission can reveal one, and every time anyone does, a permanent
record is kept of who did it and when.

How long we keep it

  • The full IP address and the browser identification string: 30
    days.
After that they are deleted automatically and only the network
    part remains.
  • Visit history: 13 months. After that the visits are
    deleted entirely.
  • If you never contacted us, once your visits have expired your record is
    removed completely.

These periods are enforced by an automatic job that runs daily, not by
anyone remembering to do it.

What it is for

So that when you get in touch, the person who replies can see what you were
actually looking for instead of asking you to explain it again. If you send us
an enquiry, the visits recorded against your browser are linked to that
enquiry and become part of your record with us.

Who can see it

Our own staff, through our internal system, and nobody else. It is not
shared with advertisers, data brokers or Google. Access to the full IP address
is restricted further, as described above.

4. Your choices

You can change your mind at any time:

  • Stop further recording on this device — clear this site’s
data in your browser settings, and decline when the banner appears again.
  • Have what we already hold erased — email
    support@tecnomation.com and we
will delete your visitor record and every visit, page and action recorded
against it. This is a deletion, not an archive.
  • Ask what we hold — email the same address and we will tell
    you.
  • Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, and this
site will not ask you or record anything.

You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking
strictly necessary cookies may affect how the basket and account pages
behave.

5. Third parties

Some pages embed third-party content — an embedded map, for example. Those
providers may set their own cookies, governed by their own policies.

If avatars are shown beside blog comments, a one-way fingerprint of the
commenter’s email address is sent to the Gravatar service so it can return an
image. If you subscribe to an email list through this site, your address is
passed to the service that sends it.

The visit measurement described in section 3 is entirely our own. It runs on
our servers, the data stays in our own system, and no third party is involved
in collecting or storing it.
