We build and maintain websites and business systems for Canadian companies from Hillside, New Jersey — on Eastern time, which means the same working day as Toronto, Ottawa and Montréal, not a handover overnight.
Most of the Canadian enquiries we get are from businesses in and around Toronto, and most of them have the same two questions: what it costs, and who answers the phone when something breaks. Both are answered on this page.
What $99 a month covers
One programme, one price: $99 per month against a $299 regular price, a three-month minimum and no setup fee. It includes the build, hosting, the SSL certificate, WordPress and plugin updates, backups, uptime monitoring and the small changes you ask for as you go.
Billed in US dollars. We are a New Jersey company and we do not quote in Canadian dollars, because a rate we invented in October would be wrong in November. Your card is charged $99 USD and your bank applies its own conversion — worth checking, because some Canadian cards add a foreign transaction fee on top and some do not.
Specialist work — a store, a portal, a booking system, an integration — is quoted in writing before it starts and never changes your monthly price. If we think a job is wrong for us, we say so instead of taking it.
Québec: the part most quotes leave out
If you sell to customers in Québec, the Charter of the French Language applies to you whether or not your office is there — it reaches businesses soliciting Québec customers, not only businesses based in the province. In practice that means French must be markedly predominant in your commercial communications, and the safe reading is that your website is one of them.
We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice. What we do is build the French side properly when you need it: a real French version rather than a translate widget, the language declared in the markup so a browser and a search engine both know which version they are looking at, and the two versions pointing at each other so neither is treated as a duplicate of the other. For what the law requires of your particular business, the Office québécois de la langue française is the authority.
This page exists in French for exactly that reason: Création de site web au Québec.
What Canadian clients usually ask us to build
A website that is actually yours
Built around how your business works rather than a template with your logo dropped into it. Three pages on the monthly programme, more where the work needs them.
An online store
A catalogue, a checkout and card payments through a provider you hold the account with — not ours. Tax rules matter here: GST, HST and the provincial sales taxes behave differently by province, and a store that charges one flat rate to every customer is a store that will be corrected later.
A booking system
Real availability, reminders that cut no-shows, and rescheduling without a phone call, against the calendar you already use.
A client portal
A signed-in area where your customers find their documents, invoices and progress, instead of searching a thread of email attachments.
Where your site and your data sit
Our hosting is in the United States. For most Canadian businesses that is not a problem, and under PIPEDA personal information may be transferred across a border — but you remain accountable for it, and you have to tell people it happens. If your sector or your own contracts require Canadian residency, say so at the start: it changes which host we use, and it is much cheaper to decide before the build than after it.

Questions we get from Canada
How much does a website cost in Canada?
$99 per month against a $299 regular price, with a three-month minimum and no setup fee. That covers the build, hosting, the SSL certificate, updates, backups and monitoring. Specialist work — a store, a portal, a booking system — is quoted in writing before it starts and never changes your monthly price. Do you work with businesses in Toronto?
Most of our Canadian enquiries come from in and around Toronto, and we are on Eastern time — the same working day as Toronto, Ottawa and Montréal, rather than a handover overnight. We are three hours ahead of Vancouver.
Does my website need to be in French?
If you sell to customers in Québec, the Charter of the French Language applies whether or not your office is there, and French must be markedly predominant in your commercial communications. We build a real French version rather than a translate widget, with each language on its own URL. We are not lawyers: the Office québécois de la langue française is the authority on what your business specifically has to do.
We reply within one business day, including when the answer is that we are the wrong team for the job.
