This policy explains what Tecnomation collects through this website, why,
how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do about it. It describes what
is actually built. Where something is not collected, it says so rather than
leaving room.

1. Who we are

Tecnomation designs, builds and maintains websites and business systems.
This policy covers tecnomation.com. Our other site,
99.tecnomation.com, has its own policy covering the same
practices.

For anything in this policy, including a request to see or delete what we
hold, email
support@tecnomation.com.

2. What we collect, and only when

When you send an enquiry

The contact form collects what you type into it — typically your name,
email address, phone number if you give one, and your message. It is sent to
us by email so we can reply. If you have agreed to visit measurement, the
pages you read before getting in touch are linked to your enquiry so the
person replying can see what you were actually looking for.

When you subscribe to emails

If you sign up for updates, we hold your email address, and it is passed to
the service that sends them on our behalf. Every email we send carries a link
to unsubscribe, which takes effect immediately.

When you comment on a blog post

WordPress stores the name, email address and website you give, the comment
itself, your IP address and your browser identification string. This is how
comment systems work and how spam is filtered. Comments and their details are
kept until you ask us to remove them.

If you use the shop

The site includes basket, checkout and account pages. If you create an
account we hold the details you enter, and if you place an order we hold what
you ordered and the address you gave for it.
We do not currently take payments through this website, and no card or
bank details are collected or stored by it.
If that changes, this
policy will be updated before it does.

When you simply read the site

If — and only if — you agree to the banner, we record which pages you read,
how long for, where you arrived from and roughly where you are. This is
described field by field, with retention periods, in our
cookie policy. Declining is not “record it and
discard it later”: nothing is created and nothing is sent.

Visit measurement is switched off entirely in the basket, the checkout, the
account area and the wishlist, and never runs while you are signed in.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your information, to anybody, ever.
  • We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager are not installed on this
    website.
  • We do not build profiles of you from data bought elsewhere.
  • We do not make automated decisions about you.

4. Technical information

Our server keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for
security and diagnosis. Separately, if you have agreed to visit measurement,
your IP address is handled in three deliberately different ways: the network
part is kept readable, a one-way fingerprint lets us recognise a returning
network, and the full address is stored encrypted, shown on no ordinary
screen, readable only by named staff with that specific permission, audited
every time anyone reveals one, and deleted after 30 days. The
cookie policy sets this out in full.

5. How long we keep things

  • Enquiries and correspondence — for as long as we are
dealing with you, and afterwards for as long as we may need to refer back to
the work. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Email subscriptions — until you unsubscribe.
  • Comments — until you ask us to remove them.
  • The full IP address and browser identification string from visit
    measurement
    — 30 days.
  • Visit history — 13 months, then deleted entirely. If you
never contacted us, your visitor record is then removed completely.

The last two are enforced by an automatic job that runs daily, not by
anyone remembering to do it.

6. Who else is involved

We use other companies only where they are needed to run the site or reply
to you:

  • Our hosting provider, who operates the servers this site
runs on and therefore necessarily processes what passes through them.
  • Our email provider, for the messages the site sends and
    for replying to you.
  • An email marketing service, if you subscribe to
    updates.
  • Gravatar, if avatars are shown beside blog comments: a
one-way fingerprint of the commenter’s email address is sent so it can return
    an image.

The visit measurement described in the cookie policy involves no third
party at all. It runs on our own servers and the data stays in our own
system.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it. For visit measurement this is a real deletion
    — the visitor record and every visit, page and action recorded against it are
    removed, not archived.
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw a
    consent you gave.

Email support@tecnomation.com
and we will act on it. You do not need to give a reason, and asking costs
nothing.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, this site treats it
as a refusal and does not ask you again.

8. Children

This website is for businesses. It is not aimed at children and we do not
knowingly collect information about them. If you believe we hold information
about a child, email us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it before the change
takes effect, and the date at the top is updated. Where the change affects
visit measurement, the consent banner asks again rather than assuming an
answer given to an older version still applies.

10. Contact

Email support@tecnomation.com.
